A desperately mediocre crime thriller with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones, notable only for perhaps the largest continuity error in film history. One scene has Connery
leaving the Savoy Hotel, and of all the establishing shots they could have chosen, we are treated to a view from Waterloo Bridge, panning slowly across the Thames from the Shell Centre to the Savoy Pier on the opposite
bank. The caption is 'London, England: Fourteen days to Millennium'. Something rather obvious* is missing....
*For non-Londoners, the Shell Centre is the 30-storey building in the right middle distance in this picture. This view is from Westminster Bridge, facing in the opposite direction to the one
in the film. The Savoy Pier is just the other side of Charing Cross railway bridge, which can be seen at the centre of the picture. Waterloo Bridge is just beyond (not visible here). |
