I've always been interested in photography, but I've never been very good at it. One of the reasons is that as a casual hobbyist I've never devoted enough time to the basics and so I never really got past the 'dabbling' stage. The advent of digital cameras has rekindled my interest, because the feedback is much more immediate and so it's easier to relate what I do on the camera to how it turns out. And, of course, I have a lot more control over the image after the fact.
